Hello,
Merlin Unwin Books recently published my latest volume, which is Wildlife Of The Pennine Hills. It is a major work describing over 300 species of animals and plants with a lot of really great photographs of them and the landscape. In the book, I go into why the landscape is at it is, and why the many species are where they are. I also discuss some of the issues that affect the habitats and natural communities.
The book has a purpose, which is to open up the Pennine Hills to people who love and visit them: to show that they are not just looking at moorland and heather, but at rich ecosystems that are full of interest.
A photo-book of mine came out last year, Yorkshire Landscapes (Oxbow Books).
As well doing books and photography, I am an environmental campaigner, using what I was taught as a student at Sheffield University.
Would your U3A be interested in a talk? I give quite a lot of them around the area where I live, very successfully.
Best regards,
Doug Kennedy
