I would be grateful if you could pass this information onto your U3A Mah-Jong group members.
Amazon have just published my book, “How to Play Mah-Jong Remotely: A way to play with friends during lockdown”.
The book is available as a paperback or as a Kindle ebook and explains how two or more homes can play Mah-Jong without recourse to any online games websites.
It works well for BMJA rules – at least for two couples using a desktop computer – and can also be applied to other versions of the game.
A number of workarounds have been found which get over the obvious problem that tiles cannot be exchanged between homes. There is even a way in which one can simulate the tile interchanges required by the goulash. The book explains how all this can be done in some detail using easy-to-understand illustrations.
Surprisingly very few rules of any substance need to be changed and the game presents similar challenges to the normal one.
Kind regards
Peter Gregory
