Speaker Enquiry
Good Afternoon Craven U3A
Thank you for taking the time to read my correspondence and I hope my email finds you well.
My role at Medaille Trust as Community Engagement Co-ordinator is liaising with parishes, groups, individuals across England to discuss the role that Medaille Trust plays as the largest provider of Safe accommodation for victims of Modern Slavery and the role we play in raising awareness and combating of Modern Slavery.
As an introduction into Medaille Trust, here is a short description:
The Medaille Trust is a charity (Charity Number: 1117830) founded by groups of Religious congregations in 2006 to work against the evils of human trafficking in response to the plight of thousands of people who are being trafficked into the UK each year. The Medaille Board is made up of Clergy, Religious & laity all with a clear Catholic focus and is pleased at Pope Francis’s great interest in the fight against trafficking and his call for action.
The Trust continues to grow and meet the needs of the increasing number of victims identified in the UK. Now, 13 years on The Medaille Trust operate from 9 safe houses offering a total of over 110 bed spaces to women, men and children. Our current range of safe house provision offers 3 dedicated women’s houses, 3 male houses and 1 specialist family centre.
“Medaille opened their doors to me when I was most in need. The staff walked by my side and helped me to find my way. I took in every opportunity Medaille gave me. I did not sit down in the corner and feel sorry for myself anymore. With the help of the wonderful staff I spread my wings and today I fly high. I am free” (Medaille Client 2019)
As the Home Secretary Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP said, many people are unaware that this takes place across the UK, often right under people’s noses without them realising it. It is clear we need to do more.
I hope that Medaille Trust could come and speak to your members on the work that continue to do across the UK fighting to eradicate Modern Day Slavery and the work in our Safe Houses.
Please contact me to discuss further the opportunities there may be for future speaker slots.
Kind Regards
