Good morning!
I hope this email finds you well?
I wondered if you could help me please? My name is Trevor Speight and I am Census Engagement Manager (CEM) for Bradford North West and I am contacting you in the hope that we could organise to speak soon and discuss the up-coming Census, which takes place on 21st March 2021?
I appreciate this may seem a long way off, especially considering more urgent concerns such as COVID lockdown and all the stresses and pressures that are associated with this, but if you are able to spare some time, it would be very much appreciated.
This census will be digital first, which means that around 75% of people are expected to complete it online rather than completing a paper questionnaire. However, please be assured that if a paper questionnaire is required, this can still be provided.
As CEM my primary focus is to engage with local communities and identify and support those people who are more likely to struggle to take part in the census. This may be because they have no access or skills in completing it online, they may have mobility issues or may purely not be aware that it is happening. Language could be a barrier too, along with concerns around data security or mistrust of the authorities.
Whatever the reason, it is my aim to work with organisations such as yourselves, who support and work within your communities to understand people’s problems and find solutions, reassure concerns and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take part.
Access to local knowledge will be vital in developing a comprehensive plan and it would be great to hear your thoughts on how we can work together to make the census a success.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Trevor
